NSAC’s five dynamic working groups—National Recycling Refund, Household Hazardous Waste Extended Producer Responsibility, Boating Equipment Extended Producer Responsibility, Illegal Single-Use Ink Products, and CA’s SB 54 Implementation—bring together stakeholders to drive responsible solutions for a circular economy.

A national recycling refund, also known as a deposit return system or bottle bill, is a proven, effective way to increase recycling rates, reduce litter, and conserve resources. The National Recycling Refund working group meets monthly on the second Monday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM PT.

Household Hazardous Waste
Extended Producer Responsibility
This group works to raise public awareness about HHW dangers, reducing contamination in waste streams, drive legislation, and emphasize safety practices in waste management. The HHW EPR working group meets monthly on the second Thursday from 8:30 - 9:30 AM PT.

Boating Equipment
Extended Producer Responsibility
Dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for end-of-life boating equipment, this group collaborates with industry leaders to establish producer responsibility programs that promote recycling and proper disposal of marine products, protecting waterways and ecosystems. Illegal Single-Use Ink Products
This group addresses the growing issue of illegal, counterfeit single-use ink and toner products by developing strategies to combat their sale, protect consumers, and promote legitimate recycling and remanufacturing practices. The Illegal Single-Use Ink Products working group meets monthly on the third Wednesday from 8:00 - 8:55 AM PT.

Focused on supporting the successful rollout of California’s SB 54 legislation, this group works to ensure effective implementation of policies aimed at reducing single-use plastics and holding producers accountable for waste reduction and recycling goals. The SB 54 Implementation working group meets monthly on the fourth Friday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM PT.
